| Description |
| This paper gives a description of low-power modes for ADSL2 and ADSL2+. These include the power management states known as L2 and L3 and the power cutback feature. The ways in which these states can be used are explained, and their various restrictions are outlined. It is observed that the L2 mode (and the L3 mode when coupled with fast initialization) offer power consumption savings when averaging over long periods of time, but they contain several risks mainly due to the creation of time-varying crosstalk. The power cutback feature provides an alternative mechanism for reducing power consumption without introducing time-varying crosstalk. |
